An amazing monastery. The icons and art inside the church are truly breathtaking. They will remind you to be respectful, and not wear hats or put your hands in your pocket. Not an issue as you can feel spiritual nature of the environment. Not costs to get in and a lot of areas to explore.

One of the wonders of Bulgaria! A must see. Even climbing the keep is wonderful. So much valuable history in one place. This place has been well kept for a thousand years!

Pretty and peaceful place where you have to go in bus. There is daily excursion from Sofia so it's worthy to dedicate one day to see this old monument

My wife and I loved visiting here. The monastery is very beautiful, but there is not much to do there after a few hours. It is a great place to visit as a quick day trip, but I don't think there would be much reason to stay very long unless you were planning on doing a bit of hiking in the area

Beautiful monastery in Rila mountains but all the complex is for 30 minutes to one hour. No possibility to see something more than exterior of monastery and church inside.

Unique place, fulled with history and faith

Beautiful surroundings both nature and monastery. But: no one speaks English and this is a problem when more and more tourists visit the place. But the worst of all is that they didn't care at all when we asked for a disabled parking place. They waved at us to move! Unbelievable!

Very serene place amidst the mountains and national park..

Definitely recommend, whether you are visitor or Bulgarian, it does not matter. Driving to the monastery is easy, the road is well maintained. There is free parking just before the monastery, the one in front of the monastery will charge 5lv. When you enter it, if you like the your guide, go straight pass the church and the old tower, to the museum behind them. Then the tour guide will lead you through the museum, show you a monk's cell and end the your inside the church. There are a lot of relics in this monastery the are of great significance to Bulgaria and orthodox as a whole

Iconic orthodox monastery built in the middle of woods.Staggering frescoes but no captions to shed lights on them. Could not find any walk-in guided tours nor audioguides. Minor efforts from the management will improve the overall experience here.

Beautiful monastery deep in the mountains. The road leading to it is brand new, which makes driving a real pleasure. The Monastery is big, warm and welcoming and the contrast against the mountains is staggering. I visited it twice and I feel is still not enough.

It's really beautiful. Extremely happy I was able to make it since the tour I booked on TripAdvisor canceled on me. Be aware there are many turns on the road to get there so if you suffer from motion sickness take your medicine with you.

Very interesting orthodox Christian monastery that is still active with services in the morning and afternoon. Beautiful frescos adorn the outside walls of main church and even more frescos inside the church. Too bad photography is not allowed inside the church.

Very spiritual place with amazing history and legends. The nature is amazing and it deserves to be seen. You can spend whole day there.

This is the most sacred place in Bulgaria. This place give us the inner peace that many people are seeking. The weather was awesome and cooling. Take time to stay and to seek and to enjoy the beauty of this place. It is so worthwhile to travel couple of hours to reach this place.

This monastery is really beautiful. The drive there is exceptionally lovely during the fall when the leaves are changing colors. Make sure to try the mekitsi (fried donut)! They are some of the best in Bulgaria.

The importance of this monastery is demonstrated in the tremendous treasures donated by people from far away. You can only imagine its spiritual power many years ago. From far away Russia, the monastery shows its true nature of spiritual center.

Rila Monastery and Boyana Church UNESCO World Heritage sites. Recommended to go if you are in Bulgaria. Rich history and nice architectural.
